About Us ...
Our love affair with the breed began about 10 years ago when one of our friends asked us to look after his dog for a few days. His name was Caleb. When we first met him he was only about 18 months old. He was full of himself. A typical young man, plenty of attitude, but he also had a very affectionate side to him aswell.
He was a big lad. I remember thinking 'I hope he's not going try to sleep on the bed with us'. But he wouldn't have had it any other way!
The few days actually turned into a couple of years!!
We used to take him anywhere and everywhere with us. He was a great pub dog, and he loved to share a packet of crisps with anyone who had an open packet. It didn't matter where we took him, people loved him. It was incredibly hard not to let this dog steal your heart. You could hold a conversation with him, I'm sure he knew exactly what we said to him. He was probably the most 'human' dog I've ever met.
We knew from day one that we were never going to keep Caleb forever, so after a while we decided that not only would it be a good idea for Caleb to have some company, but also when he went back to our friend, we would still have a dog.
At the time we were very kniave about getting a dog. To us a dog was a dog. So when we saw an advert in our local paper advertising a rottweiler puppy, we went and had a look. Kiah, or as she was known then 'Sheera' was only four months old and chained to a kennel. She did not have enough chain to let her get to the grass, there was muck all over the patio and ants in her food bowl. Despite this, she still seemed very happy and bouncy.
We couldn't leave her knowing the state she was being kept in, so we went back the next day and got her. They had locked her in the shed for 'being naughty'.
Luckily we still had Caleb, he was like a mother to her. I'm sure Kiah has only turned out so well because of him.
When Caleb went, it not only left a big void for Kiah, but for us aswell. After a bit of searching we spoke to Christina Robinson of 'Reizend Rottweilers'. We were lucky enough to be put down for a puppy. We called him Carlin.
We had bought him as our first show dog, and he did us proud, qualifying for CRUFTS in his first couple of months in the ring. We had some sucess with him and subsequently caught the showing bug.
When Carlin was nearly 18 months, he developed a very rare condition called hyper-esinophilia. It affected the rate at which his blood cells multiply at. We very nearly lost him. Luckily we had an excellent vet who managed to save him, but unfortunately he now doesn't like being in the ring too much.
Again, we started looking round and after nearly 8 months we spoke to Pete Mather of 'Retham Rottweilers'. He was due his second litter. We knew he had bred some nice dogs from his first litter and when they were four weeks old, we went and had a look.
Romell stood out from the beginning.
We were incredibly fortunate to get him. He fitted in with the other two from the moment he walked through the door.
Romell was shown from the day he turned six months and he is the ultimate showman. He adores being in the ring.
We have had such a fantastic year and won many prestigious prizes. Romell has exceeded all of our expectations and fulfilled our wildest dreams. He ended 2006 with winning his first Challenge Certificate, Best of Breed and Group 4 at Bournemouth Championship Show, and also winning Best Of Bred at Midland Counties Championship Show too!!
Towards the end of 2006, we acquired Reenee, also know as Paloduro Lady Madonna. She is from our very good friends, Ken & Maureen Giblen of the Paloduro kennels. We have begun to show her, and she has done incredibly well so far, achieving several BEST PUPPIES, and also qualiying for CRUFTS 2008. The next chapter has begun!!
